Value Stream Mapping
Value
Stream Mapping (VSM) is a tool for describing the processes in a
manufacturing environment. The first step, creating a
"current-state" map, provides understanding of how the plant currently
operates. The second step, creating a "future-state" map, describes how
the plant will function after a defined period of time (eg. 12
months). One advantage of this tool is that it describes
the information flow within a plant, as well as the materials flow.
Also, the relatively straightforward depiction of the processes allows a
consistant communication through various departments and levels of
expertise. We provide support for mapping the "current
state" and defining the "future-state" maps, as well as a training
program for developing your own in-house Value-Stream experts.
